How to play it
Tips from Arroyo's hole-by-hole page (Gold tee yardages), in our words.
- Hole 1 · par 5
- A long par 5 that takes three good shots. Miss the two fairway bunkers off the tee; the second plays downhill. The big green has deep bunkers front, back and left.
- Hole 2 · par 4
- A strong, slightly uphill par 4. Three fairway bunkers make the tee shot about accuracy, and the green is bunkered on three sides.
- Hole 3 · par 3
- The west wind often helps on this downhill par 3, so club choice is key. The bunkers look like they swallow the green, but there's plenty of room.
- Hole 4 · par 4
- A long par 4 toward Red Rock Canyon with views of the Strip behind. The approach is the real test.
- Hole 5 · par 5
- A reachable par 5. Going for it in two brings the bunker 20 yards short of the green into play.
- Hole 6 · par 4
- Plays uphill into the west wind. The green is wider than it is deep, so distance control matters.
- Hole 7 · par 3
- A downhill par 3 from about 100 feet above a green beside a lake, with big bunkers short right and left.
- Hole 8 · par 4
- Favor the right side off the tee for a shorter approach. Watch the bunker left of the green.
- Hole 9 · par 4
- A short uphill par 4. Carry the left fairway bunker (about 220 out) and you'll have a wedge in.
- Hole 10 · par 4
- First of three back-nine tee shots over water. Wide fairway; the big green slopes back to front.
- Hole 11 · par 5
- A short par 5 and a birdie chance. Three bunkers sit around the layup area.
- Hole 12 · par 3
- A long par 3 into the usual headwind, one of the hardest holes on the course.
- Hole 13 · par 4
- Length off the tee helps; the landing area is generous. Bunkers front right and long.
- Hole 14 · par 3
- Big target, but avoid the pot bunkers front right and long left. The tiered green makes putting tricky.
- Hole 15 · par 4
- Driver brings trouble into play. A long iron off the tee leaves a wedge, but carry the fairway bunker in front of the green.
- Hole 16 · par 5
- A par 5 with a 230-yard carry over a lake off the tee and a narrowing fairway. Long is better than short; two big bunkers guard the front.
- Hole 17 · par 4
- Hit 3-wood to the right side of the fairway to take the left greenside bunkers out of play.
- Hole 18 · par 4
- Carry the lake to a fairway that narrows to 20 yards. Bunkers guard the left side of the green.
