How to play it
Tips from Chimera's course page, in our words.
- Hole 1 · par 4
- A narrow par 4. A long drive that finds the downslope leaves a short approach from a downhill lie and an early birdie chance.
- Hole 2 · par 5
- The fairway tilts hard left to right. Long hitters can get home in two, but avoid the huge bunker on the left. The green is deep, narrow and slopes back to front.
- Hole 3 · par 4
- A short par 4 where club choice matters. Stay out of the big bunker left and the desert right; don't go long, because a very deep bunker sits behind the green.
- Hole 5 · par 4
- One of the trickiest holes. Aim left: the mound right of the fairway is easy to find and leaves a tough shot. The approach is slightly uphill to a big green.
- Hole 7 · par 4
- An uphill, potentially drivable par 4. Stray left or right and it turns ugly. The green has a lot of contour.
- Hole 9 · par 4
- The hardest hole on the card: a long par 4 finishing over water, with a waterfall running along a long, rolling green. Drive down the left-center.
- Hole 11 · par 5
- The longest hole, 567 yards from the back, from an elevated tee with a Strip view. Find the fairway; the two-tier green is a tough putt.
- Hole 14 · par 4
- A short, drivable par 4 with deep bunkers and trees around the green. A hybrid or long iron to lay up is often smarter.
- Hole 16 · par 4
- Probably the toughest test: a long par 4 with one of the narrowest fairways. Keep your approach below the hole on a green that slopes hard back to front.
- Hole 18 · par 4
- Water on the left all the way. Hit driver and flirt with it, or lay back with an iron and deal with the water on the approach. The Stratosphere sits behind the green.
