Carts come with coolers and ice so you can keep drinks cold. Source

Driving range

A big 16-acre range with 40 hitting spots. Open 5 AM to 4 PM; hours can change, so call the golf shop at (702) 547-6250. Source

Small basket (about 30 balls) $5, medium (about 75) $9, large (about 110) $14. Source

A large putting green, chipping greens and practice bunkers. Source

Rentals

Rental clubs

Callaway sets (Paradym driver, Rogue ST woods, hybrids, irons and an Odyssey putter), $60 a set with two sleeves of balls and a small bucket of range balls. Men's right- and left-handed and women's right-handed sets. Reserve with the golf shop. Source

A full-service bar in the clubhouse (6 AM to 5 PM, kitchen 8 AM to 3 PM). Source

Dress code

Collared shirts; mid-length shorts or pants. Denim is OK only if it's in good shape (no holes or cut-offs). No gym shorts, sweatpants, swimwear or sports jerseys. No metal spikes. Source

No outside coolers, food or drinks (state and local health and alcohol rules). Source

• Expected pace of play is 4 hours 30 minutes or less. Source
• The course is watered with non-drinkable water; don't drink from the irrigation. Source

How to play it

Tips from Stallion Mountain's course tour, in our words.

Hole 1 · par 4

Straightaway par 4 with bunkers both sides of the fairway and out of bounds and homes down the right. Take one extra club into the green.

Hole 2 · par 5

Keep the drive straight between a big bunker left and rocky gravel right. Missing left of the green into the grassy area isn't bad; the green slopes hard from front to back.

Hole 3 · par 3

A long par 3 with water down the whole left side to the green, and bunkers right and behind.

Hole 4 · par 4

Dogleg left. Long hitters can cut the corner over the bunkers; otherwise aim for the middle of the green.

Hole 5 · par 3

A long par 3 with six bunkers and a long, narrow green with ridges. Par is a good score.

Hole 6 · par 5

Reachable par 5 from elevated tees. Homes right and trouble left; keep your approach left of the front-right bunker and run it on.

Hole 10 · par 4

A short carry off the tee to a fairway sloping right to left, out of bounds right and a pond behind a small, raised green.

Hole 11 · par 3

The shortest par 3: pond left, bunker right.

Hole 13 · par 5

Lake down the right side of a tight fairway. Long hitters can go for it in two, but laying up is fine.

Hole 15 · par 4

Uphill drive to a split fairway. Play the left side to stay away from the bunkers and avoid a blind second shot.

Hole 16 · par 4

Long and narrow, with fairway bunkers on both sides and a huge bunker short left. Maybe the toughest hole.

Hole 17 · par 3

A long par 3 that's all carry over water, often into the wind. The green slopes a lot from back to front.

Hole 18 · par 5

The longest hole: a pond runs down the right from 140 yards out to the green, with bunkers on the left.
