How to play it

Tips from Serket's course tour, in our words.

Hole 1 · par 4
A risk-reward opener. If you can't reach the green, hit less than driver and stay short of the deep bunker in front.
Hole 2 · par 4
The hardest hole. Pick your line on this dogleg right and don't cut off too much. Aim at the left edge of the green and let the slope feed the ball right.
Hole 3 · par 3
A par 3 with a two-tier green. Note the pin and land on its tier; the hill on the right funnels balls toward the hole.
Hole 4 · par 4
A short par 4. Going for the green is risky; less than driver leaves a wedge to a wide, shallow green. Carry the deep greenside bunker.
Hole 5 · par 4
Drive just right of the big fairway bunker for a clear shot to an uphill, narrow green. Miss left, not right.
Hole 6 · par 3
From an elevated tee into the canyon, it plays shorter than the yardage. Control your height and avoid the deep greenside bunker.
Hole 7 · par 4
The signature hole. Hit it straight; a wedge or short iron is left to a green that slopes back to front. The right side of the fairway gives the best angle.
Hole 8 · par 5
A reachable par 5 even with less than driver. Aim for the edge of the split fairway.
Hole 9 · par 5
A long par 5 with a wide landing area; only big hitters get home in two.
Hole 10 · par 4
Don't cut too much off this dogleg left: a bunker and a deep hollow wait on the left. Approach to the left side of the green, away from the bunker on the right.
Hole 11 · par 4
A long par 4: you need the fairway. A long iron or wood is left to an open green.
Hole 12 · par 3
A short par 3 over a gorge. Play to the middle; the green tilts left to right.
Hole 13 · par 4
The easiest hole. Long hitters can try for the green, but deep bunkers sit both sides. A layup leaves a wedge to a big green.
Hole 14 · par 5
The landing area is wider than it looks. Lay up to your favorite yardage; trouble lurks long and left of the green.
Hole 15 · par 4
Find the fairway on this gentle dogleg right, and avoid the deep bunker right of the green.
Hole 16 · par 3
Water short and a deep swale through the middle of the green. Par is a good score.
Hole 17 · par 5
Long hitters can reach in two; everyone else lays up short of the desert in front and right. Hit the correct side of the split green.
Hole 18 · par 4
A long par 4 that needs a straight drive. Missing the green left makes the up-and-down harder.
